good night, sleep tight . . . and try not to get shot at in your yard tonight

Ahh, . . . the sounds of slumber. It's late at night. We are snuggled up in our warm bed, and we are being lulled to sleep by the following phrases being shouted out of a bullhorn from a police helicopter.
"STAY IN YOUR HOUSE!"
"YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SHOT!"
"STAY IN YOUR HOUSE AND LOCK YOUR DOORS!"
"THERE ARE POLICE DOGS OUT!"
"WE ARE NOT KIDDING, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SHOT, GET IN YOUR HOUSE AND STAY IN YOUR HOUSE!"
Ok, so my question is . . . who is outside trying to see the police action? There were floodlights from the helicopter shining all over our block and up and down our street, in our yards, on our roof, in windows. There were multiple police cars around, a police helicopter overhead . . . and our neighbors were walking outside to see what was going on ???!
I love living in the city.
p.s. I did not take that photo. I was in bed with the covers pulled up over my head. It seemed to be safer there.

Aren't we so lucky we get these lovely lullabys?! At least there are a lot less out here than where we used to live! May the rest of your week be peaceful!

When I tell my mom about something like this happening it totally freaks her out. It SOUNDS really scary, but mostly it just seems like the price of admission for living in the city, which 99% of the time I find stimulating and exciting. Just as long as the drug crazed gun toting dude doesn't use my house as a stopping off point, I'm happy to watch from my window. :)

That's funny, Lauri. I forgot about it when we were talking today. Such an everyday event. The scary part was that I didn't know it was happening at first and Roxanne was coming home from her activities and two police shined a spotlight in her eyes and waved her to slow down so they could see who it was in the car then waved her on. AND THEN LET HER GET OUT OF HER CAR BY HERSELF, WALK ACROSS THE YARD TO COME IN THE HOUSE ALL ALONE! She probably should have left the neighborhood and waited til things settled down, but we didn't know. The bullhorn announcements started shortly after.

Did you ever find out what all the fuss was about?

("Fuss" sounds too trite for this police action - "danger" maybe?)

They were searching for someone involved in an assault. Who and what happened, I don't know, but they did arrest someone.
