block party

A strange thing happened Friday night. This was in the street in front of our house. Yes -- this car is upside down, on our small residential street riddled with speed bumps. And it was an accident involving only one moving vehicle. I still can't figure out how it happened. (By the way, the woman who was driving this car was eventually able to wriggle herself out of the window and was sitting up talking to the EMTs. She was dazed and confused about why she had been folded in half upside down in a pile of broken glass, though. An ambulance immediately whisked her away. I don't know who she is or how she is doing.)
What apparently happened was this -- she pulled out of a driveway less than a block away. She drove down our street and hit the corner of Rachel's car parked at the curb in front of our house. Rachel's car was shoved backwards about 12 feet and this woman's car flipped over! How does that happen??
Rachel's car has very little visual damage. The body of her car seems to have been saved, although there is obviously some misalignment to the tires/axle/frame something. The front tires point in different directions now.
The street was blocked off, there were 2 fire trucks, 2 police vehicles, and a tow truck. The event pulled neighbors out of their houses all up and down the street. It was all very fascinating. Rachel commented that she had never met so many neighbors. (We should have had a block watch meeting while we were all together!)

Look you can see where she drove right over my tire! Dad was right, she basically just hit my tire. Crazy night!

That is crazy. It seems as if she'd have to have been going 90 mph to do that kind of work. Thank goodness no one was hurt. Sorry about your car though Rachel

That's so bizarre how parked cars suck-in killer traffic...

Asia had parked our little black car like that in front of a friend's house on the corner, and a teenage kid on a bike ran into it so fast he went head first THROUGH the back window. She said the police were really rude, laughing it up. The boy was peddling like crazy to build up speed for his pals to film him doing something on his bike - I can't remember - to put it on YouTube. When Asia learned that, she asked his friends, "Did you get THIS on film?!" They hadn't. The parked car hi-jacked everything.

The bike-riding human canon ball was O.K. sans a few chunks of irrelevant flesh.

Cynthia, Have you ever wondered why there is always so much excitement at your house? Foundation excavations.., upside down cars..., Maybe you need an exorcism of the premises, or maybe you are just in a special vortex!

Strange ions in the air! Lee and Brandon (our newly returned missionary) were waiting at the stop light at an intersection and the rear tire of a lady's car fell off, rolled down and smacked into Lee's car! The lady had just had her brakes done and the mechanics forgot to tighten the lug nuts or blts or whatever they are! I recently left you a comment on the blog about your name, I did not know if you saw it or not.
